LONGCHAMP a FEEL GOOD collaboration

coming in from the cold

This winter, Longchamp Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine spirits us away to a chalet in the Alps, imagining a cozy ambiance made all the more welcoming by deliciously warm blankets and irresistibly soft shawls. And who better to help create these feel- good pieces than the Norwegian designer Kristine Five Melvær, whose graphic, colorful textiles and homewares establish an emotional bond between object and user?

The collaboration between Longchamp and Kristine Five Melvær has resulted in a capsule of four pieces characterized by their bold colors – orange, blue, gray, and burgundy – and geometric lines, reminiscent of modern art. Perhaps the highlight is a wool blanket, woven in Norway by Røros Tweed, which has produced beautiful, durable, and sustainable wool products at its workshop in the small mountain town of Røros since 1940. Wonderfully soft and light, and finished with authentic blanket stitch, it can be rolled up and transported in a Russian leather holder specially designed by Longchamp – two traditions of artisanal savoir-faire in one forever piece.

The blanket is accompanied by a wool shawl and long, fringed scarf, both embroidered with the Longchamp racehorse logo. Completing the capsule is an oversize, colorblock sweater in a luxurious blend of wool and angora – perfect for chic weekending in the Alps, or indeed anywhere else!
